A Little History of our Little Store
Quadra Island Pantry was established in 2005 in Quathiaski Cove by Celia and John. Originally called Yellow Dog Trading Company, it was located in a small shop in the back alley of the Cove Plaza, where full bags of staple food goods were displayed on their shipping pallets. This whole bag bulk buying proved popular and soon they moved the store to the front of the plaza.
The store was then purchased by Barb and Gerry. The product list grow to include cheeses, dried fruit, spices and eventually an ice cream stand. As it outgrew its tiny space the store picked up grander lodgings a few doors down, now more centralized in the Cove Plaza.
Lydia and Peter were the next owners. While bulk purchases were still available, there was a trend toward smaller quantities being repackaged into plastic bags.
In 2018 Deb and Bruce bought the store with a vision of being a family grocer with a focus on nutritional whole foods and eco-friendly packaging. To more accurately reflect her true nature, her name was changed to Quadra Island Pantry.
And so it goes…
